Abu Dhabi: A combination of frequency increases, new destinations and new airlines establishing an Abu Dhabi route will lead to a projected 10 per cent increase in the number of flights offered to and from the capital this summer (April to October), compared to the same season last year, according to the Abu Dhabi Airports Company.

New airlines

In the summer timetable, airlines operating through Abu Dhabi International Airport (ADIA) will be operating 835 weekly scheduled flights, connecting ADIA to 80 destinations in 45 countries.

The expansion of Etihad Airways, the UAE's flag carrier, is a significant contributor to the growth, with its launch of five flights per week to Tokyo and Nagoya as well as a frequency increase to many other destinations.

New airlines operating flights to ADIA this season is another important factor. These include Air France's five flights per week to Paris starting in May, GMG Airlines' two flights per week to Dhaka, and two flights per week to Amman by Royal Falcon Airlines.
