Sharjah: A newly born baby girl was found abandoned outside an apartment in Sharjah in the early hours of Saturday, an official at Sharjah Police told Gulf News.

The baby girl was found wrapped in a piece of cloth at 3am in a building located in Al Qalia’a area of Sharjah.

The incident was reported to Al Gharb police station who in their turn took the baby to Al Qasimi Hospital.

Officials said the age of the girl was estimated to be only a few hours. The baby girl was reported to be in good health and condition.

Police have launched a hunt to track down the mother and arrest her.

This is the second case in a week of a baby being abandoned. Last week , a newly born baby girl was found abandoned on the road. The baby girl was found wrapped in a piece of cloth at 6am in the garden of a villa in Al Mansourah area of Sharjah. The garden was outside the villa and faces the road.

The incident was reported to Al Hira police station who in their turn took the baby to Al Qasimi Hospital.

An officials said the girl was estimated to be two days old and she had dark skin and her features were Asian.

The baby girl was also reported to be in good health and condition.
