Ajman: Ajman Police have arrested 11 men on charges of trafficking, consuming and possessing drugs.

The operation was conducted in cooperation with other anti-narcotics departments in the UAE. Colonel Saeed Humaid Nasser, director of the Anti-Narcotic Department of Ajman Police, said the suspects, all Asians, planned to sell the drugs to Ajman residents.

The operation was launched after Ajman Police received a tip-off about Asian men being in possession of a large quantity of heroin that they intended to sell in the emirate.

Ajman Police collected information about the whereabouts of one of the suspects. He was caught red-handed selling heroin.

Upon being interrogated, the suspect admitted he had partners and led police to them. The police conducted a raid and recovered heroin and other kinds of narcotics.

All the suspects confessed that they were trafficking drugs. They have been referred to the Public Prosecution.

Col Nasser said: “We have aborted plans of drug dealers to promote drugs in the UAE. Many drug dealers who target young boys have been arrested.”

Ajman Police urged residents to cooperate with security agencies and report any suspicious activity.

Brigadier Ali Abdullah Alwan, General Commander of Ajman Police, praised the efforts and the role of anti-narcotic departments in combating drug trafficking.
