UAE foreign minister also meets Egyptian counterpart on the sidelines Vienna talks
Vienna: UAE Foreign Minister Shaikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan on Friday participated in international talks on Syria in the Austrian capital of Vienna.
The Friday meeting attended by key regional and international was a culmination of a meeting held on 23rd October in Vienna when foreign ministers of the US, Russia, Saudi Arabia and Turkey recognised the importance of broadening the scope of participation in such meetings by inviting regional and world powers who wield influence on the Syrian file -- including the UK, China, France, Germany, Italy, Egypt, Iran, Iraq, Oman, Jordan, Lebanon, EU and the UN Special Envoy for Syria.
Fares Mohammed Al Mazrouie, Assistant Foreign Minister for Security and Military Affairs, also attended the meeting.
Meanwhile, Shaikh Abdullah met his Egyptian counterpart Sameh Shoukry on the sidelines of the international talks on Syria in the Austrian capital of Vienna.
The ministers discussed ways of enhancing bilateral ties to serve mutual interests. They also exchanged views on a variety of regional and international matters of common concern.
Also touched upon were proposals and ideas discussed at the extended Vienna meeting with the aim of finding a political solution to end the Syrian crisis and the role of Al Assad during the political transition in Syria.
