Dubai: Three holidaymakers landed in court after police raided their hotel room where they were caught consuming drugs in the presence of three women.

Drug enforcement officers raided the hotel room following a tipoff that the men were consuming hashish.

Records said the three Saudis — 22-year-old A.A., 25-year-old E.F. and 19-year-old K.D. — were taken into custody as well as the three Moroccan women in July.

Prosecutors accused A.A., E.F. and K.D. of possessing and consuming hashish after they tested positive for drugs.

The trio pleaded guilty when they showed up before the Dubai Court of First Instance on Tuesday.

According to the accusation sheet, prosecutors said the suspects possessed a dark piece of hashish weighing 42gm and two cigarette butts stuffed with hashish weighing 0.63g and 0.37g.

The defendants admitted that they had possessed and consumed drugs and asked the presiding judge for a swift and lenient judgement.

An anti-narcotics police lieutenant testified to prosecutors that they had also arrested three Moroccan women who were present with the defendants when they raided the hotel room in Al Barsha.

“Following an informant’s tipoff, we obtained prosecutors’ permission and raided the room at 2am. A.A. and K.D. were outside, in the main hall, while E.F. was in one of the bedrooms. The latter seemed under the influence of drugs. Upon searching the room, we found a cigarette butt stuffed with hashish thrown on the floor … we also found two other cigarette butts in a drawer. In a safety box, we also found a pharmacy bag that contained a dark piece of hashish. Upon confronting the suspects with the findings, A.A. claimed that the drugs belonged to him, while his countrymen admitted that they had consumed drugs. All suspects were referred to Dubai Police’s anti-narcotics department for drug tests,” the lieutenant told prosecutors.

Prosecution records did not mention whether any legal action was taken against the Moroccan women or not.

A ruling will be heard on October 9.
