Abu Dhabi: UAE Attorney General Dr Hammad Saif Al Shamsi has ordered urgent trial for a foreigner held on charges of spying for a foreign agency.

An Emirati had reported to the Public Prosecution that the man was acting suspiciously, asking sensitive questions about some sensitive departments, and seeking to gather classified information on the UAE.

The man was arrested and during the investigation, he allegedly admitted to the charges. He had also allegedly revealed the investigators about the agency he spied for.

The UAE Attorney General has shifted the case to urgent trial in the State Security Court.
