The 15th day of the month of Sha’aban, the eighth month of the Islamic calendar, is marked as Haq Al Laila in the UAE. Emirati children across the country celebrate this day by going around their neighbourhoods, collecting sweets, nuts and treats to fill their tote bags, known as Kharyta. Other than celebrating, the purpose of the event is to educate the public about the occasion and the month of Ramadan.
