Dubai: In the past few years, I have been facing some legal issues and things have gotten bad, to the extent where I have lost my job, my visa has expired, and I might even be homeless soon. And in this situation, people may consider dumping their pets. But, I sit in my empty apartment, hoping my four cats can be rescued once again, even if just for a few days.

I’m a single mother, and my daughter and I had rescued seven cats since I moved here in 2011. I lived in Dubai’s International City and would feed the strays in the area and helped some animal welfare organisations with rescuing, too.

But, in 2015, the financial issues began and the bills started piling up. I soon lost my job, and due to some legal issues, cannot find another one.

If I had the money, I would have put my pets in boarding. But, unfortunately that is not possible. I am trying to find a place for them to stay, but unfortunately the people I know are not cat lovers.

Out of the seven, two have luckily gotten adopted and one is in a foster, which is why I have four living with me. One of them recently underwent a surgical procedure. The Animal Project, a Dubai-based animal rescue organisation, was able to pay for the surgery and treatment, but he is still extremely ill.

I really need a place for him to recover. My friends told me to put him to sleep as I won’t be able to manage, but I took the chance as I could never do that.

Now, I just need help to find new, permanent homes for the felines.

Many people around me think I’m crazy to carry them with me in this difficult time, but they don’t understand how much time and energy we devote to help these little beings. To be honest, such people would never understand how precious their lives are. They are like a part of the family.

If anyone can help me with getting these beautiful felines adopted, they can send an email to admin@friendsofanimalsdxb.com
