Tehran: A visit by Iran’s Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif to Saudi Arabia is not currently scheduled, a senior official of Iran’s Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Sunday.

“The visit of Iran’s Foreign Minister to Saudi Arabia is not currently planned,” Hussain Amir Abdollahian, Deputy Foreign Minister for Afro-Arab Affairs, was quoted by Iran’s news agency (IRNA) as saying.

He asserted meanwhile that Iran welcomes the visit of Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Saud Al Faisal to Tehran.

London-based newspaper Al Hayat has recently quoted sources inside Iran as saying that preparations are made for Zarif to visit Riyadh.
