Here are the main points of the new Lebanese political agreement. The factions agree to:
Convene parliament to elect Army chief General Michel Sulaiman as Lebanese president.
Form a 30-member national unity cabinet including the ruling coalition and the opposition. The opposition will have veto power over major decisions.
Scrap the current electoral law and adopt legislation that divides country into smaller districts in an effort to better represent various sects.
Not use weapons or violence to achieve political gains.
After the election of a president and the formation of cabinet, launch a dialogue, overseen by the president, on boosting state authority over the entire country and outlining the relationship between the state and various armed organisations to guarantee security.
Refrain from political, religious and sectarian incitement.
