US forces recapture Al Qaida militant
Kabul: US forces captured an Al Qaida insurgent in southeastern Afghanistan who had escaped from the heavily fortified US detention centre at Bagram air base last year, a newspaper reported on Monday.
Pakistani News newspaper identified the man as Abu Nasir Al Qahtani, who was captured in the Afghan province of Khost.
A week ago the US military announced the capture of a known Al Qaida insurgent and ‘five other extremists', no immediate details were given.
Last year on July 11, four Arab Al Qaida militants escaped from the Bagram air base, 50 km north of Kabul. One of Al Qaida's top global lieutenants, Omar Faruq, was among them.
This year British troops shot Faruq dead in the city of Basra during a pre-dawn raid on his hideout on September 25.
