Dubai: Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan’s photos and video avoiding handshake with the country’s top religious scholar Maulana Tariq Jamil, has gone viral on social media.
As Maulana Jameel entered the meeting room and about to extend his hand for handshake, Imran smiled and put his hand on his heart as a sign of respect and greeting and avoided the handshake. At this, Maualana Jameel also smiled and put his hand on his heart to extend his greetings to the Prime Minister Imrna Khan who then respectfully directed him to his seat.
Maulana Jameel called on Imran at the Prime Minister’s House in Islamabad on Monday. Imran asked Maulana Jameel to help the government spread awareness on preventive measures to save people from coronavirus threat.
Their photos of greeting each other and avoiding handshake went viral as this is being promoted by the government to prevent the spread of coronavirus in Pakistan which has recorded 106 cases on till Monday afternoon.
“Prime Minister Imran Khan and Maulana Tariq Jamil leading by example by taking strict precautionary measures in times of Coronavirus Pandemic. We all need to play our role and avoid handshakes and other physical contact to ensure public health and safety,” tweeted Prime Minister Imran Khan’s office.
Soon social media was flooded with appreciation at the duo for taking precautions in the wake of the coronavirus.
“Social distancing is the most recommended preventive measure amid Corona outbreak. Pakistan also takes steps for normalszing social distancing. Today, PM Imran Khan and one of our most revered religious mentor Maualana Tariq Jamil follow social distancing protocols,” tweeted PTI (Pakistan Teheek-e-Insaf) -official twitter account of Imran Khan’s political party.
