Mumbai: Najam Sethi, the chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), has tendered his resignation to Imran Khan.

His resignation has come just two days after former captain and the 1992 World Cup-winning captain Imran Khan was sworn in as the new Prime Minister of the country.

“I was unanimously elected as Chairman of the PCB in August 2017 by all 10 members of the BoG (Board of Governors) for a three-year term ending 2020. I believe I have served the cause of cricket diligently”, he has said in his letter.

”You (Khan) have said on many occasions that you have a vision for Pakistan cricket. Therefore it is only proper that you should assume charge and responsibility a management team for PCB that enjoys your full confidence and trust.

“In order to facilitate your objectives in the interest of Pakistan cricket, I hereby submit my resignation of Chairman of PCB and Member of its BoG.”.

Ehsan Mani, the former ICC chief, now a board member of Khan’s Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital & Research Centre hospital, is one of the front-runners to take over.
