Hyderabad: An elderly couple in Telangana hired four men to kill their son after they were fed up with his drug habit coupled with abusive and violent behaviour.
The shocking incident came to light 12 days after the body of the victim was found floating in the river Musi in Nalgonda district of Telangana on October 19.
Registering a case of suspicious death, police launched a probe into the case and eventually arrested the parents, maternal uncle and three hired killers.
According to the police, 26-year-old Sai, a college dropout, was the son of Ram Singh, a college principle and Rani Bai, resident of Huzurnagar in Suryapet district. The couple had a daughter too.
Sai had developed a drug habit and was harassing and threatening his parents for money every day. The parents lost patience as he had started abusing and beating his mother.
Finding no solution to the problem, the couple decided to get Sai eliminated. They took the help of Sai’s maternal uncle Satyanarayan Singh who in turn arranged four people from the same area.
Huzurnagar circle inspector Ramalinga Reddy told the media that Sai’s body was found in river Musi at Shunyampahad under Suryapet district on October 19 with visible marks on his neck suggesting he was strangulated.
Three days later Sai’s parents contacted police to claim the body saying they came to know about it through news reports. The couple came in a car to take the body home for cremation. During the investigation police achieved the breakthrough with the help of CCTV footage in which a car was see near Shunyam Pahad. They found it was the same car which was seen in the CCTV footage.
“We took the parents into custody for questioning and they revealed the entire story behind the crime,” Ramalinga Reddy said.
“It was the same for us whether our son was alive or dead”, Sai’s mother Rani Bai told the police as she broke down narrating her tale of woe.
On the request of Rani Bai, her brother Satynarayana Singh had arranged the killers, including an auto driver Ramavat Ravi, a resident of Dhiravat Tanda near Miryalaguda to get the job done for Rs 800,000. Others involved in the crime were identified as P Nagaraju, B Rambabu, Dhanavat Sai.
On October 18 Satyanarayana Singh and Ravi invited Sai to Maisamma temple at Kallepally in Nalgonda district on the pretext of attending a party. After drinking liquor for some time, the group strangled Sai to death and dumped his body in the river Musi.
The police have arrested the couple, the uncle and three killers while search was on for the fourth person.
