Programme allows travellers to use e-gates, reducing wait times to seconds
Dubai: Eight airports in India are now using the Fast Track Immigration – Trusted Traveller Programme (FTI-TTP), designed to expedite immigration clearance for Indian nationals and Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) cardholders.
By utilising automated e-gates and biometric verification, the programme aims to streamline the immigration process at major international airports across the country.
Launched in June 2024 at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport, the FTI-TTP is managed by the Ministry of Home Affairs through the Bureau of Immigration. The programme allows pre-verified travellers to bypass traditional immigration queues by using automated e-gates, thereby reducing wait times from approximately 30 minutes to mere seconds.
As of January 2025, the FTI-TTP has been implemented at the following airports:
Delhi
Mumbai
Chennai
Kolkata
Bengaluru
Hyderabad
Cochin
Ahmedabad
The government plans to expand the programme to 21 major airports nationwide.
Indian citizens
OCI cardholders

Once enrolled, travellers can utilise dedicated e-gates at participating airports.

Scan passport.
Undergo biometric authentication (fingerprint and facial recognition).
Upon successful authentication, the e-gate opens, granting immigration clearance without the need to interact with an immigration officer.
The FTI-TTP is part of the Indian government’s ‘Viksit Bharat @2047’ vision, aiming to modernise infrastructure and services by the country’s centenary of independence. Future plans include:
Extending the programme to additional airports, reaching a total of 21 major international airports.
Incorporating foreign nationals into the programme in subsequent phases.
