A plane carrying multiple people crashed in Coffee County, Tennessee, roughly 60 miles south of Nashville, according to the Tennessee Highway Patrol, CNN reported.

Tennessee Highway Patrol state troopers are assisting Tullahoma first responders following the crash, which occurred on Old Shelbyville Road. Early information suggests there were approximately 16 to 20 people on board.

“Some have been airlifted to nearby hospitals,” the highway patrol said in a post on X Sunday afternoon.

In a Facebook update, they added that others are being evaluated at the scene.

Tullahoma first responders and Coffee County EMS are leading the emergency response efforts. Authorities have urged the public to avoid the area to allow rescue crews to operate safely.

The plane is believed to be a skydiving aircraft, according to law enforcement officials cited by CNN. The situation remains active and developing, with more updates expected as information becomes available.
