Over-packing is the most annoying and unnecessary outcome of going on a holiday. Some people claim to want 'options' in case they change their minds while they are away, however through experience, we realized that the best thing to do is to pack exactly as much as you need.
Whether you are travelling to the Maldives, Seychelles, Mauritius, Thailand or Sri Lanka, it’s best to know which outfit goes on which day and to decrease the amount of clothing clutter in your luggage. You usually never end up using those extra ‘options’ you pack.
Travelling light is an art. An art that doesn’t come easily to everyone. But we’ve travelled enough to tell you. Here’s how to pack light for a beach vacation.
Before we get into the clothing, here is a list of necessities that you’ll need for a comfortable trip.
- Travel size toiletries (toothbrush, small toothpaste, deodorant, make up etc.)
- Stain remover wipes or a stain pen
- Sunscreen
- Your usual basic medicines
- Download, borrow or buy a good book
- Phone charger

Just a few packing hacks before you go:
1. Roll your clothes, don’t fold them. Rolling clothes actually saves space and decreases wrinkles.
2. Use pill to pack your smaller jewellery, like rings and earrings.
3. Put your shoes in shower caps, to keep them away from your clean clothes.
4. Protect your perfume bottles by putting them in your socks.
5. Use the insides of your shoes as storage space for socks, or other small items
6. Put transparent wrap under the covers of your toiletries before screwing them shut to keep them from leaking all over your suitcase.
7. If you have items that wrinkle, fold them up with light tissue paper and roll them up.
