If the call of the riviera is strong, you may as well make the most of summer and splash out on colour in the spirit of freedom under the sun - these are the Kurator’s picks of the best 2023 cruise collections for some seaside sophistication.

CHANEL: The glitz, glamour and fairytale setting of Monte Carlo inspired the latest Chanel cruise collection incorporating looks for the poolside, the beach, the boat, or a spot of summer sports.

The French Riviera and its history played the biggest part in designer Virgine Viard’s creations, as she sought to capture the region and its cosmopolitan style.

DIOR: Legendary icon Christian Dior chose Seville in Spain to launch the latest cruise collection, liberally embracing the world of flamenco dance with clothes featuring intricate embroidery and graceful, flowing lines.

With ox-blood red strikingly setting the template, the strong looks are decorated with lace velvet and ruffles, and flat-brimmed hats add an air of mystery.

GUCCI: Gucci designer Alessandro Michele had no intentions of playing by the rules when presenting the brand’s latest cruise collection, called Gucci Cosmogonie.

The striking ensemble of colours and optical patters almost hypnotise, playing on exaggerated proportions and illuminating crystals and accessories.

LOUIS VUITTON: For the new Louis Vuitton cruise collection designer Nicolas Ghesquière wanted to give the illusion of a shimmering, metallic palette, achieved with the use of a variety of natural materials. "I wanted the clothes to be like reflections, a point of contact between light and people," he said

The looks evoke a utopian, futuristic desert world, embracing the sun with plenty of elements of traditional Middle Eastern dress.

ELIE SAAB: Lebanese designer Elie Saab celebrates female strength with his latest cruise collection, captivating the confidence, power and independence of the ‘Bond Girl’ in a bold display of vivid tones and diverse silhouettes.
