No let-up in hacker attempts

Dubai: For the broadcasting industry, there can be no downtime when it comes to guarding against online security breaches. If that needed affirmation, the fiasco being played out at Sony Pictures offers it.

Such attacks are not random. “We are constantly being bombarded by hackers trying to breach our systems,” said Emad Morcos, Senior Vice-President for Business Development, Strategy and Digital at OSN, the pay-TV operator. “On our part, we have just had another round of investments to upgrade the internal security features. “Such attacks are not related to specific broadcasting companies ... the entire industry is constantly being targeted. The only option is to keep improving the security features to withstand such attacks.”
