Spike Lee to write and direct ‘NBA 2K16’ video game

This is the first time the American director would work on a motion-capture stage in his career

NBA 2K16 will be a Spike Lee joint.

2K Games says the American filmmaker has been recruited to write and direct the single-player campaign for the interactive basketball franchise’s next edition.

Lee says the game’s story will centre on a basketball player whose personal exploits off the court are just as chaotic as the game on it.

NBA 2K developer Visual Concepts has integrated cinematic elements into the single-player mode over the past five years. The gamemakers passed that task to Lee this year in hopes of achieving a slam dunk with gamers.

NBA 2K16 marks the first time Lee has worked on a motion-capture stage in his career.

The latest instalment in the NBA 2K series will feature Stephen Curry, James Harden and Anthony Davis on three separate covers.
