eOman awareness programme unveiled

Last updated:

Muscat: Maqbool Bin Ali Sultan, Oman's Minister of Commerce and Industry, launched the eOman awareness programme on Saturday.

Mohammad Bin Nasser Al Khusaibi, Secretary General of the Ministry of National Economy, said, "We are currently evaluating proposals for implementing 'Ubar Portal', the government electronic services gateway."

Ubar Portal's initial phases would be implemented by the end of this year. This would open up a window to acquire government services online. eOman is Oman's e-Government initiative, and aims to create an effective government-community-citizen infrastructure that provides better public services to people, resulting in a meaningful communication between the government and citizens.

Spearheaded by the Information Technology Technical Secretariat (ITTS) of the Ministry of National Economy (MoNE) in partnership with various public and private sector entities, eOman is looking at creating an effective communication between the government and citizens.
