Dubai Ruler opens five-day Gitex

Dubai: His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, opened the five-day Gitex at the Dubai International Conference and Exhibition Centre on Sunday morning. 

Shaikh Mohammad was accompanied by Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai Crown Prince and Chairman of Dubai Executive Council, and a large entourage, as he visited the stalls of the UAE’s two telecom companies, etisalat and du, as well as the stand of Dubai Silicon Oasis Authority and Research in Motion, where he met RIM CEO Jim Balsillie. 

Gitex, which began Sunday morning with lines a large turnout, will bring together technology and telecoms companies from across the world. Gitex Shopper, which opened on Saturday, runs until October 15th at the Dubai Airport Expo.
