Dubai: Shaikh Hasher Al Maktoum, Director General of Dubai Department of Information, opened the 19th edition of Cabsat on Tuesday, one of the region’s largest broadcast, digital media and satellite exhibitions, at Dubai World Trade Center (DWTC).

“This year at Cabsat, we see more product launches. We also expect to see a 15-20 per cent increase in the number of exhibitors,” Maryam Al Muhairi, group sales manager at DWTC told Gulf News.

Around 840 exhibitors from 54 countries at the show are showcasing their latest technological devices for the broadcast industry, including satellite receivers, cameras and post-production editing systems, as well as broadcast services, among others.

Among the companies launching new products at the show is Yamaha, which are showcasing their new Nuage system. It is a touch enabled post-production editing system that allows users to edit and mix videos with its multi-function knobs.

Meanwhile, Norway-based Vizrt is displaying their multi-platform workflow. The system, which is targeted at media organisations, allows the user to produce text, graphics, and videos on one platform, and then publish the content on all kinds of devices simultaneously. It’s asking price is between $50,000-1.5 million.

“Everything is linked [in the system]. Everyone wants to be on every platform,” said R V Krishnan, regional sales manager at Vizrt.

The show runs from Tuesday to Thursday, from 10 am to 6 pm, and until 5 pm on Thursday.
