Dubai: Hosts Dubai Offshore Sailing Club (DOSC) and Abu Dhabi’s Emirates Heritage Club (EHC) dominated the podium places in the third round of the UAE national sailing championships at the weekend.

The three-day event also saw 45 of DOSC’s top racing yachts in action in the Jumeirah Regatta for keelboats. Each day began with very little wind, but by around lunchtime the breeze picked up and produced some fast racing.

In the UAE Nationals, DOSC’s youth sailors dominated the Optimist class, with Jentl Hanemaaijer and Matthew Hardie taking podium places in both the junior and overall categories.

EHC won four out of six trophies in the Laser 4.7 and Laser Radial categories, while DOSC picked up the other two.

DOSC’s senior sailors, Al Tate, John Woolcock and James Hopson, took the top three spots in the Laser Standard class.
