Airline backs match officials and reaffirms commitment to women’s sport
Dubai: Women’s rugby is about to take centre stage — and Emirates is flying right into the heart of the action.
As anticipation builds for the Women’s Rugby World Cup 2025 in England, Emirates has been named an Official Partner, further strengthening its longstanding relationship with World Rugby and deepening its support for the women’s game.
The global airline will also continue its backing of World Rugby Match Officials during the tournament, with referees sporting the iconic Emirates ‘Fly Better’ kit throughout all 32 matches.
Set to run from August 22 August to September 27, the tournament will feature 16 national teams competing across eight venues in England for the newly introduced Women’s Rugby World Cup Trophy.
Emirates’ latest partnership reflects its growing commitment to advancing women’s sport and connecting with new fan bases. With operations in 13 of the participating countries, the airline is well-positioned to activate its sponsorship on a global scale.
“We’re excited to partner with World Rugby as an Official Partner and Airline of Women’s Rugby World Cup 2025,” said Sir Tim Clark, President of Emirates Airline. “Women’s rugby is flourishing globally, and Emirates’ investment expands our presence while supporting the sport’s growth. Making rugby accessible is part of our commitment to long-lasting impact and stronger fan connections.”
World Rugby Chief Revenue Officer Michel Poussau added: “Emirates has been a trusted partner of World Rugby for nearly two decades, and we’re proud to extend this relationship into the groundbreaking Women’s Rugby World Cup 2025. Their continued support of our match officials ensures excellence on the field.”
Sarah Massey, Managing Director of the tournament, said the airline’s backing will help elevate the team behind the whistle: “Emirates is helping create meaningful opportunities for match officials to thrive—especially women taking part in this landmark event.”
Emirates has supported rugby since 1987, partnering with six consecutive Rugby World Cups (2007–2027), the Emirates Dubai 7s, and the HSBC Cape Town 7s. It is also the title sponsor of Asia Rugby and the UAE Rugby Federation, supporting both national teams and grassroots development, including the Dubai Hurricanes.
Beyond rugby, Emirates has become a key supporter of women’s sports — backing the four tennis Grand Slams, ICC Women’s World Cups, Arsenal Women, Lancashire Women’s Cricket Club, and multiple regional rugby and netball competitions.
Women’s Rugby World Cup England 2025 is set to be a generational moment for the game. With powerful athletes, passionate fan bases and a growing global spotlight, the tournament aims to inspire the next generation and redefine perceptions of women’s sport—both on and off the field.
