Today's fight for points has thrown open an engrossing scenario for the rest of the Formula One season, according to a top official from the organising committee of the Bahrain Grand Prix.

"It's interesting to see Renault as the leader for the moment this year. But I don't think this will be for long.

"There are a lot of Ferrari fans in Bahrain who are awaiting a comeback from their team starting from here," stated Shaikh Fawaz Bin Mohammad Al Khalifa, Chairman, Bahrain International Circuit and President of the General Organisation for Youth and Sports.

Last year was an apprehensive moment for the man behind the success of the first-ever race staged in the region.

"We barely got the circuit ready and within a couple of weeks we had to stage the race," he said.

"This year things are completely different. We do not have to worry about getting the circuit ready."

However, the officials do have the added task of innovation to make things interesting for the Formula One teams and fans. "We are in a constant process of innovation," Shaikh Fawaz added.

"You will notice this year that the green cover at the circuit has increased substantially. There are more trees and the Formula One Village area has doubled."

On the circuit itself, the much-maligned turn 4 has had some modifications carried out. "There has been an overall improvement in all spheres towards the build up to the race this year," he stated.

"And this is basically due to what we have learnt from organising this race last year," he added.
