Dubai: Vivian Verma won the overall July BMW medal with a superb score of net 69 at Dubai Creek Golf and Yacht Club on Saturday.

On one of the most humid days of the year so far Verma managed to defy the energy-sapping conditions in which the majority of the field struggled, and won by a clear three shots.

A great back nine of gross seven over par for the 21 handicapper helped to secure his maiden BMW medal win.

Runner-up in the men's division B with a net 72 was Madhav Nair who recovered well from a disastrous front nine to score the second lowest score of the day.

Women's division

In the men's division ‘A' Jean Hendrix claimed the spoils with a great net 73 and Patrick Morrow finished alone in runners up spot with his net 74. Phillipa Kennedy won the women's division with a net 75 to continue a good run of form and runner up was Shloka Desai finishing one shot behind with net 76.

The overall lowest gross score for the day was 79, +8 by Paul King, who admitted the heat and humidity got the better of him.

King has now made it three in a row for gross titles and now playing off a handicap of plus one.
