Dubai: Spanish golfer Jon Rahm closed the weekend with a two-shot win over Andy Sullivan and Bernd Wiesberger at the Dubai Duty Free Irish Open on Monday. The top-ranked golfer completed the Rolex Series hat-trick with seemingly effortless shots, which would serve as a build-up as the golfing world turns its eyes towards the British Open at Royal Portrush in just under 10 days’ time.

With a clinical finish of a round that he crafted so well, Rahm left himself nothing more than four feet for par at the closing five-shotter.

A knee jerker for some, Rahm put his cold blood on full display as the putt dropped with commanding speed — an indication that the thought of missing never crossed his mind.

As he calmly rolled it in like he had a million times before, this one was different. This putt made him over a million euros richer — and they were hard earned bills.

Overall, it was a successful event for tournament sponsors Dubai Duty Free, “That was another fantastic edition of the Dubai Duty Free Irish Open, and Jon Rahm is a worthy winner. This has been a wonderful week of sport, festivity and fun, there were massive crowds and a fantastic atmosphere both at the golf and in the village.” said CEO Colm McLoughlin.

The European Tour is back in action at the Scottish Open this week, with action commencing at The Renaissance Club later this week.
