The 2005 Abu Dhabi World Sand Golf Championship, organised by Abu Dhabi Duty Free and ADNOC Distribution, will hold a photography competition for amateurs, professionals and spectators sponsored by Olympus Al Sayegh Brothers. The Pro-Am event will be held on March 7 at Al Gazzal Golf Club.
"Olympus Al Sayegh Brothers decided to sponsor the photography competition at the Abu Dhabi World Sand Golf Championship this year as we see it as one of Abu Dhabi's most prestigious sports events," said Mr. Abdul Jabbar Al Sayegh, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Al Sayegh Brothers Group.
"We believe this photography competition will add to the excitement of the championship, we would like to encourage all visitors, media and guests who may be amateurs or professional photographers or even the golf professionals to participate. Perhaps this competition will highlight a huge resource of talent within the visiting crowd and participating golfers."
Everyone who comes to the golf tournament will be invited to enter the competition.
The judges will be looking at the three best photographs that best show visual impact, creative perspective and personal expression. Winners of the competition will receive top of the range Olympus digital cameras. First prize winner will receive an Olympus E-300 Digital SLR with 14-45 mm Zuike Digital Zoom Lens, the second prize winner will receive an Olympus Ferrari AZ1 and the Olympus Mju-mini will go to the third prize winner. The event's main sponsors are Abu Dhabi Duty Free and ADNOC, the national oil company. The World Sand Golf Championships is a joint venture of Abu Dhabi Duty Free and Professional Sports Events Ltd.
