Joe Clark added his name to an elite list of golfers when he scored an ace on the 8th hole at the Jebel Ali Golf Resort & Spa.

Clark, an 11-handicapper from Wirral in Cheshire, England, achieved the feat with the help of a six iron.

For his effort he was presented a certificate and Mont Blanc pen from Golf Operations Manager, Stuart McMurdo.

Meanwhile, a limited field of Filipino golf enthusiasts will tee-off today in the inaugural Philippine Independence Day Golf Tournament at the Jebel Ali Golf Resort & Spa.

The tournament is being organised by the executive committee of the newly formed Filipino Golfers Society of UAE and supported by ABS-CBN-Middle East, Skywards and Land Bank of the Philippines.

The field is restricted to 24 players due to limited tee-times and the format is 18 holes individual stable ford full handicap allowance.

Vying for honour are scratch players Noel Leniohan and Ariel Ignacio from The Montgomerie, Dubai.

Other players to watch are Jimmy Camero (14), winner of the 2004 Ambassador Cup and Danny Lopez (6), 2004 golfer of the year at Dubai Golf Club.
