Abu Dhabi: They've arguably shared just as many column inches in the tabloids as they have on the sports pages, but Dwight Yorke tips Tiger Woods to overcome his personal plight to reign supreme in the world of golf once more.

Yorke set tongues wagging as he was seen accompanied by 19-year-old European Tour blonde-lovely Carly Booth as they followed Martin Kaymer and Rory McIlroy on their round yesterday at the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship.

When stopped by Gulf News, the former Manchester United striker showed solidarity for Woods, despite Kaymer's ascension up the world rankings with yesterday's win.

"Kaymer is flawless, nothing seems to phase him. If he continues doing what he is right now there's no reason he can't be World No. 1 but there's a lot of people out there trying to do the same — it's really exciting golf up ahead."

Yorke added, "You can never rule out Tiger — he'll want to show everyone he's capable of coming back.

"He'll have a big say on whether Kaymer can do it this year. You can't move someone like that whose been dominating the game for such a long time. We all know his troubles last year but…"

Media glare

Asked from his perspective if the media glare affects a player Yorke said, "We're all human beings. You never like to see that. You just want what's best for the game of golf. We all make mistakes along the way."

Yorke who has been at the brunt of the tabloids for a string of celebrity relationships and consequent paternity disputes, most notably with page three model Katie Price said of his own game, "when you see these guys behind the ball it makes you sick."

"There's nothing good about my game at the moment. I've got to go away and work extremely hard if I'm to get anywhere close to these guys. I'd be happy if I had just 60-70 per cent of the talent these guys have."
