Dubai: Vinay Mehra won the overall January BMW medal at the Dubai Creek Golf & Yacht Club with a solid net 71 by virtue of his better back nine.

Mehra played a blistering back nine of net 33 to ensure his maiden BMW medal and take home the crystal. Mehra also claimed the division B win and one-shot back in second place with net 72 was Abdul Aziz Al Hakim.

Phillipa Kennedy also shot net 71 and with her back nine of net 36 missed out on the main prize but was very happy with the ladies' division win. Naema Maya finished ladies' runner up with a consistent net 74.

Stephen Clarke also shot 71 and was one clear from Peter Shaw on net 72 to take the division A spoils.

Ahmad Al Musharrekh won best gross with a two over par 73 and his younger brother Hassan Al Musharrekh scored net 68 to win the overall best junior prize.

Dubai Creek Golf & Yacht Club welcomed their new Club Captain for 2010 Adel Zarouni with the traditional drive in off the 1st tee, during the monthly medal.

Under the watchful eye of all the members, Dubai Creek's senior management staff. Zarouni with no pressure struck a mighty drive 258 yards down the right hand side to start off his captaincy in style.

Zarouni said, "Happy New Year to all our members who played today and I look forward to a successful 2010 for us all. I would also like to congratulate Francisco Giles on last year as our club Captain."
