The UAE will be vying with strong contenders Australia for the right to stage the biennial Eisenhower Trophy in 2008.

The Gulf News has learnt that a three-member delegation from the UAE Golf Association (UGA) is already in Puerto Rico to present the offer during the course of the premier World Amateur Teams Championships from October 28-31.

The UAE delegation consists of Adrian Flaherty, UGA's General Manager, Mohammad Bu Amim, UGA Board Member and Khalid Al Halyan, Secretary General of the UGA.

Also making an offer to host is Australia.

The 2006 event will be staged in South Africa just outside Capetown.

Rashid Al Abbar, Faris Al Mazrui and Khalid Yousuf are representing the UAE at the 72-hole competition being held in Puerto Rico over four days.
