Dubai: The UAE’s under-18 national golf team returned home from Bahrain’s Royal Golf Club after attending a weekend training camp to fine tune their skills ahead of their forthcoming engagements on the domestic and international circuits.
The weekend was part of the Emirates Golf Federation’s intensive training programme to prepare the team for the forthcoming Pan Arab Championship, which will be held at Riffa Views in Bahrain this month.
Accompanied by Khalid Mubarak Al Shamsi, Secretary General of the Emirates Golf Federation, seven junior members went through their paces under the watchful eyes of the UAE national junior coach Jason Froggatt.
Each player received training in on-course preparation covering course mapping, visualisation, landing zones and run-offs, in preparation for the season ahead and one of the four spots available for the Pan Arab Championships.
“Different forms of play on the Montgomerie course allowed the players to implement all that they had learnt throughout their games, and more importantly, helped to forge a sense of camaraderie,” said Al Shamsi.
“Playing on a European Tour venue course was a great experience for the juniors.”
“It was a beneficial weekend thanks to the enthusiastic response from the players who now look forward to the challenges ahead.
Al Shamsi said they were committed to providing the players with the best playing opportunities.
“The experience gained at this year’s GCC Tournament championship will go a long way in preparing the team for future international tournaments, like the forthcoming Pan Arab Championship,” he said.
“Riffa Views will be a true test to the team the young players can learn from the senior players and their experience in past tournaments in Bahrain”, Al Shamsi added.
