You find yourself going from AC to AC, you suffer third degree burns when getting into your car, the beaches are empty and your hair fuzzes 1cm higher in the two-minute walk between your car and the office! Summer is here!

You find yourself going from AC to AC, you suffer third degree burns when getting into your car, the beaches are empty and your hair fuzzes 1cm higher in the two-minute walk between your car and the office! Summer is here!

Stepping out on the golf course in the summer heat could make anyone feel they've walked right into a furnace!

Your enthusiasm is literally seeping out of every sweat gland in your body (some you didn't even know you had). Suddenly, you wonder what you were thinking when you became enraptured by the low green fees on the high-end courses in the hot summer season.

All is not lost though. With a few concessions and a little preparation, you can enjoy those great summer golf deals under the scorching sun.

Face it - You never get used to it! It's going to be insanely hot anyway so why not be hot while doing something you enjoy?

Take it in your stride

Playing golf is one of the great pleasures of living in the UAE. The trees, the greens, the (sort of) fresh air can make a long 18-hole game go by faster. We should look at the heat the way golfers regard rain and fog in Ireland and Scotland. It's just part of the experience. As unavoidable as bogeys. No point whining. Endure and you'll have some amazing golfing experiences over the summer.

Play unlimited golf this summer by taking advantage of the fantastic summer deals offered between May 1 and September 30.

The Els Club is offering a Summer Pass deal at an exceptional rate of Dh3,995 for unlimited golf from Sunday to Thursday and a very low rate for weekend golf at Dh195 for 18 holes. That's not all - This one is for the ladies! They are also offering a 50 per cent Spa discount at the Mandara Spa (Monarch Hotel).

Subscribe to the Northern Emirates Summer Loyalty Pass and receive four months of amazing reduced fees on the three affiliated clubs - Sharjah Golf & Shooting Club, Tower Links (RAK) and Al Hamra Golf Club, plus enjoy one complimentary round of golf on all three courses and receive discounts at the retail outlets.

The Creek offers a summer pass ranging between Dh3,600 and Dh4,350 for unlimited use of the 18-hole course, including a 30-minute lesson from one of the PGA qualified instructors.

Yas Links Abu Dhabi offers amazing deals throughout summer. Play 18 holes of golf on Wednesdays for only Dh299 and unlimited golf on Sundays for Dh499. Book a four-ball on Mondays for Dh999. And benefit from the special package at the golf academy - it's just too good to be missed. Enjoy golf with coastal views at Yas, rated among the "top 10 new international courses in the world!"

These are to name just a few. Get in touch with your favourite club to enquire about the exceptional summer offers throughout the UAE.

Five heat tips

1. Just accept the heat!!

2. Dismiss early-morning-tee-time jive - it may be a little cooler, but it's also the only time when the courses are packed solid during the summer and the humidity is higher early mornings.

3. Hydrate, hydrate - drink four times the water you think you should. 4. Play a few tree-lined courses- Jebel Ali is a great one!

5. Apply sunblock - If anything the sun's more intense than you think. You might not feel as hot, but you can burn twice as fast.

Finally, the good news is the human body comes equipped with heat-loss mechanisms. Everyone says ‘this summer is the hottest ever'. It's actually the same as the last 20 years, so go out there and hit the greens!
