Dubai: The Shaikh Rashid Trophy, a flagship event of the Emirates Golf Federation, returns to the domestic circuit for the first time in four years.

The event, to be held from October 21-23, is expected to attract a full field of 100 players.

The 54-hole Shaikh Rashid Trophy will be played across three different courses — Al Badia (October 21), The Els (October 22) and Jebel Ali Resort and Spa (October 23). The cut will be made after 36 holes with the top 30 and ties making it to the final round.

Sponsored by Jebel Ali Resort and Spa, supported by Gulf News, Bryne and Ernst & Young, the event is open to amateurs with handicaps of 18 or under.

It's also a qualifier for the World Amateur Ranking Order of Merit and EGF Order of Merit.

James Williams, director of golf at Jebel Ali Resort and Spa, said: "It's great to see the Shaikh Rashid Trophy back on the UAE golf calendar. We're delighted about its revival and our involvement."

Ross Bain, who now plays on the Asian Tour, has the distinction of winning the event three times (2000, 2001, 2004).
