Dubai : Young Rayhan Thomas may be just 10 years old but he is already working his way up the Emirates Golf Federation rankings fast.

In just his first season of playing on full 18-hole courses, the Dubai Creek and Golf Club youngster has already reduced his handicap to 16, finished in eighth place in the EGF Junior Nett Order of Merit and has now led the Pepsi-2 team to victory in the season-ending Pepsi Junior-Am at The Els Club last weekend.

But his achievements don't stop there. He also picked up the longest junior drive prize at the Pro-Am event and last month won the UAE PGA Junior Series, played over par-three courses.

The pro in his team at the Els Club, Stephen Hubner, has watched his development at Dubai Creek and told XPRESS: "He really works hard at his game and is a real pleasure to play with. He has a really bright future ahead in the game."

Hubner added: "He will get another chance to play with the pros next week when he teams up with Drew Nair in a match against myself and fellow pro George Kasparis. Rayhan says he is really looking forward to it."

The hugely popular Pepsi Junior-Am gives youngsters a chance to lead a team containing a PGA professional and three other adult amateurs in a Texas Scramble.

The festivities after the event at the Els Club last weekend were rounded off by the EGF presenting the Order of Merit awards for the 2009-10 season.
