Sheridan and Sumsion top Order of Merit
Dubai: The two-player team of Wayne Sheridan (8) and Dave Sumsion (9) combined for a score of 8 points to win the Toyota Golf Day at Arabian Ranches Golf Club yesterday. Sheridan and Sumsion also take the season- long Al Futtaim 2006/07 Order of Merit Golf Series - having being leaders prior to this final qualifying tournament - that began back in February last year. Runners-up were the team of Andrew Burrow (4) and Kurt DiNucci (5) on 6 points with Jason Grimley (9) and Rob Atkinson (9) a further point behind in third.
UDC to co-sponsor Qatar Masters
Doha: As part of an ambitious programme of using golf to broadcast Qatar's message to a global audience, United Development Company (UDC) will co-sponsorship the $2.2 million Commercialbank Qatar Masters. "Golf is a massive worldwide business and we see events like the Commercialbank Qatar Masters and the BMW International Open as perfect opportunities to inform a global audience and potential investors of just how Qatar is developing as a major sporting, business and leisure destination," said Walid Al Saadi, UDC Chief Executive Officer. It will be held at Doha Golf Club from January 25-28.
