A four over par second round 74 by Dubai resident Shiv Kapur (Ind), saw him make the cut on the + 1 mark in the $1 million 72 hole Laguna Phuket Championship played in Laguna, Thailand on the Asian Tour.

Kapur opened up with a double bogey 7 on his opening hole, the 9th, in this two tee start, and finished his round with two bogeys on his last two holes saw him home at one over par 141, just making the cut.

Leading after the second round is Bio Kim (South Korean) adding a four-under-par 66 to his first round 62 on 12 under to lead by two shots from Thailand’s Chanachok Dejpiratanamongkol, in with a 67.

Thailand’s Phachara Khongwatmai is a stroke further back after firing 65, one better than his compatriots Panuphol Pittayarat and Natipong Srithong, who both shot 64.

Last two rounds

The cut fell at one over par 141 with 75 players qualifying for the last two rounds.

Dubai resident Jeev Milkha Singh (Ind) missed the cut with a second round 71 adding to his first round of 74.

The Asian Tour now takes a seasonal break after this week with two events in Singapore to complete the nine event Covid-19 impacted 2020 – 2021 Asian Tour Order of Merit; The Singapore International at Tanah Merah Country Club Thursday 13th – Sunday 16th January followed by the SMBC Singapore Open at Sentosa Golf Club Thursday 20th – Sunday 23rd January, 2022.

Jumeirah Golf Estates Ambassador MG Keyser (RSA) shot another round of 69 to make the cut comfortably on two under par.

Of the MENA Tour invites Ryan Lumsden (Scot) leads the way on five under par in 15th place along with David Langley who also made the cut on one under par.

Kapur tees off in his third round at 9.50 am tomorrow (Saturday) off the 9th tee with Andrew Martin (Aus) and Sarun Sirithan (Thai).
