Dubai: Pete Cowen, coach of some of the world's best golfers including US and British Open winners Graham McDowell and Darren Clarke, spent time with professionals at the Emirates Golf Club academy in the run-up to the 2012 Omega Dubai Desert Classic, as part of his affiliation with the club.

The partnership means that academy professionals can utilise Cowen's experience and expertise first- hand during his regular visits to Dubai where he provides insights and training on the latest techniques and training methods.

During his recent visit the key topic of conversation was shoulder stability and the importance of understanding weight transfer for the complete novice.

Head academy professional Stephen Deane said: "Pete brings with him a wealth of knowledge and an enthusiasm for the game. His teaching methods can easily be explained to the novice or experienced player and his theory revolves around strong foundations. He incorporates easy and simple to follow drills which can dramatically improve your student's game with just 15 minutes practice per day. We are delighted that the professionals at the academy have the opportunity to harness this knowledge, and we look forward to the continued development of all our students young and old."

Pete Cowen said, "Emirates Golf Club is a fantastic venue and I always enjoy the time that I spend here. The academy is a superb facility offering the very best in tuition within the region and I am extremely proud to be associated with the facility and the team here."

The award-winning academy was originally established in 1988 and currently teaches over 5,000 students per year, from beginners to experienced players and from children as young as four.
