Abu Dhabi: English duo Paul Casey and Anthony Wall shared the lead midway through round two of the $2 million (Dh7.34 million) Abu Dhabi Golf Championship on Friday.

Casey, who had earlier completed his first round with a three under 69, shot an impressive second round score of seven under par 65 to go top. His play on Friday included six birdies ion seven holes.

Following behind was Wall, who matched his first round score of five under 67 in the second to share the lead with Casey.

The two are leading on 10 under par 134 with overnight leaders Johan Edfors (66) and Mikael Lundberg (66) just starting their rounds.

Ireland's Rory McIlroy shared second place with Brett Rumford of Australia one shot behind the early leaders.

The 19-year-old McIlroy shot a three under 69 in the second round. He came on early to complete his unfinished first round and picked up two shots over the final six holes to join Swedish pair of Edfors and Lundberg.

Rumford also was in fine form with four birdies on the front nine and another two in the back nine but a bogey on the fourth hole saw him finish his second round with a five under 67. He had earlier shot a four under 68 in the first round.
