Sharjah: Valeriu Tita has replaced Jorvan Vieira as coach of Sharjah Club in a bizarre turn of events at the struggling tenth placed Etisalat Pro League outfit, according to a statement on the club's website.

Vieira, who has already been sacked by Bani Yas this season in late October after just two draws from seven matches in all competitions, was brought in to replace Tita at Sharjah in December after the Romanian recorded three wins and three draws in 14 league and cup matches. Tita had taken over at the last moment in pre-season after Carlos Azenha resigned. As such this is the fourth managerial change at Sharjah this season.

String of changes

A month and a half later Tita is now back in the job at Sharjah amid a string of changes at the club which have also seen chairman Yahya Abdul Kareem resign and Shaikh Ahmad Bin Abdullah Al Thani installed as interim committee chairman.

The former Iraq 2007 Asian Cup winning coach Vieira had recorded two wins and two draws in eight league and cup games. With his Bani Yas form brought into the equation as well Vieira has earned his club's ten points from a possible 45 in a total of 15 league and cup matches in 2011/12. But ironically his Sharjah success rate (50 per cent) is still eight per cent better than Tita's (42 per cent).

Separate to the chaos three Sharjah players have also been suspended by the UAE FA after testing positive for performance enhancing drugs.

Yasir Abdullah Al Junaibi, Jasem Mohammad and Shaheen Abdul Rahman now all await B sample test results. The sweeping changes at the clubs and the alleged drugs scandal have no correlation according to a source at the club.

Confidence

A statement on the club's website said: "The club has decided to renew confidence in Valeriu Tita to retake leadership of the team in place of Vieira, who was not successful over his two month reign. Results were better with Tita than they were with Vieira.

Interim committee chairman Shaikh Ahmad bin Abdullah Al Thani said: "During Tita's reign, the club beat Al Shabab who is one of the front runners for the title. Our relationship with Tita continued despite the decision of the previous management to sack him."

Former UAE Olympic assistant Abdul Majeed Al Nimr, has been confirmed as Tita's second in command. January signings Timur Kapadze and Lee Sang-ho brought in to replace Eman Mobali and Vanderson Almeida will remain despite the change in management. Sharjah is now tenth in the league with nine points from 12 matches, they are through to the Presidents Cup semi final but bottom of their Etisalat Cup group on two points from seven games.
