Referee Probert earns coaches' ire

His performance dubbed ‘inconsistent and interesting'

Swansea: If Lee Probert received a Christmas card from either Neil Warnock or Brendan Rodgers, then he should keep it and get it framed because there might not be another next year.

The Swansea manager was less than impressed with what he described as an "interesting performance" from the referee. Warnock called it "consistent", but not in a flattering way.

Rodgers' frustration centred on an incident after 73 minutes when, with the score at 1-1, Danny Graham collected a Luke Moore pass and cut across QPR defender Armand Traore. There was contact, Graham went down but Probert, a few yards away, waved play on.

"I thought it was a clear penalty, I've seen it from a few angles," Rodgers said. "Danny bent his run perfectly, got a touch and Traore has made the foul. Normally in the box with the referee so close, that's a penalty.

"It probably summed up Lee's performance, which was interesting to say the least. I like Lee, he is a good lad. He is on the circuit and trying to get experience, but he was inconsistent right through."

Warnock admitted, "I said to Brendan that I hope it's the most stonewall penalty he will see this season and we had a good laugh."

Warnock wasn't laughing in the first half when Graham opened the scoring.

"We are very disappointed at their goal," Warnock said. "It's a deliberate handball, he gains an advantage and he wouldn't have scored otherwise. The referee said he saw the handball but that it was not deliberate, which disappoints me even more."
