London: The Indian poultry firm who are close to sealing a £46million (Dh268 million) takeover of Blackburn Rovers are on a collision course with manager Sam Allardyce.

The Rovers boss welcomed the possible takeover, saying the former Premier League champions need serious investment, but the prospective owners have ruled out splashing the cash once they are in charge at Ewood Park and seem happy to coast in mid-table.

Chief of Venkateshwara Hatcheries, Anita J Desai, said the company would stump up just £5m for new players and ruled out moving for big-name signings any time soon.

"We don't expect to be in the top five of the Premier League. We will be happy to be in the top ten or 12," Desai told India's Economic Times newspaper.

Uncertainty

Their lack of ambition is sure to anger Allardyce, whose side are fourth from bottom of the Premier League with only nine points from as many games.

Allardyce has already voiced concerns over the uncertainty that comes with a takeover.

"If you're getting new owners, you want to know what they want to do and how they want to progress as a football club, which is important for me and the players here," he said.
