Croat midfielder is to demand transfer to Chelsea and calls club supremo Levy 'cold and arrogant'
London: Luka Modric is to demand a transfer after an explosive attack on Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy.
Modric, who is attempting to engineer a move to Chelsea, says the Spurs supremo is "cold and arrogant" and again accused Levy of reneging on an agreement to consider an offer if a top club made a bid.
The comments have sparked fury among Spurs officials, who view the verbal assault as an attempt to force a move to Stamford Bridge.
Modric stood by an attack on Levy back in Croatia and said he would "ask for a transfer if I have to". He added that he has "no problem with Harry Redknapp," continuing: "I have respect for the manager, but the chairman has not been truthful with me."
Sportsmail revealed last month how Chelsea's £22 million (Dh131 million) offer for Modric was rejected by Tottenham.
The bid compelled Levy to make a statement insisting the midfielder was not for sale. He hammered home his point during talks with Modric last week, and the Croat has blasted the way the Spurs chairman conducted himself during last week's discussions.
He said: "Much of what has been printed about my meeting with Levy is incorrect. Levy, realising the importance of our meeting, twisted my words.
"I now have the right to tell my side of the story. Firstly, I have to say I'm really disappointed in Levy's attitude towards me. He was cold and in an arrogant way made it clear that he was not interested in anything I had to say.
"For me, his attitude only reinforced my view that I'm not making a mistake in my decision to move on."
Michael Essien's knee injury has prompted Chelsea into cranking up their interest in Modric ahead of the new season. The 25 year old told Sportsmail last month he wanted to quit White Hart Lane and insists Levy is breaking a promise in his decision to block a move to Stamford Bridge."
