Abu Dhabi: Former Liverpool striker Milan Baros could join up with fellow Czech Karel Jarolim at Al Wahda, according to reports in the Czech media.

Jarolim, 56, replaced Josef Hickersberger as coach at Al Wahda last week and has already put the 31-year-old Banik Ostrava forward on his wishlist.

He told the Czech reporters: “On Saturday, I was in the UAE and I saw the team in action. In the evening meeting with the management, we talked about next season. There is no doubt that if we are to be competitive, they must bring better players. They asked me my idea of the complete player and I gave them a tip on Milan Baros.”

Baros, who also played for Aston Villa, Lyon and Galatasaray, said of his situation: “Now, it is pointless to speculate about anything. In the next week we have a deal with my agent Pavel Paska and we will sit down together and discuss everything. Let’s see how many offers I have.”

Baros has scored 41 goals in 93 appearances for the Czech Republic. He was the top scorer at Euro 2004 and was an integral part of the U-21 European Championship winning squad of 2002.

With Liverpool he won the 2005 Uefa Champions League and the 2003 League Cup. He also won the FA Cup while on loan at Portsmouth in 2008.
