Gulf Asian School, Sharjah defeated the Indian High School, Dubai 2-0 to win the 21st Our Own Sharjah Inter-School Invitational soccer tournament at the Sharjah Wanderers Sports Club grounds.
Abu Baker of the Gulf Asian High School, Sharjah was adjudged the Best Player while Manish Manoj of the Our Own Indian School was declared the Best Goalkeeper. Delhi Private School, Jebel Ali received the Fair Play trophy.
This annual tournament, conducted on a League cum knock out basis, with 16 teams competing in a total of 27 matches, was inaugurated on 21st September, 2005.
The Chief Guest at the final was Dr. Mohammad Basheer, former captain of the Indian soccer team. Tony Dalby, Manager, and Mr Douw Smit, Sports Coordinator of the Sharjah Wanderers Sports Club were the Guests of Honour.
Salman Basheer of Sun & Sands was also present.
NIKE was the official ball and Sun & Sands sponsored the trophies.
Pocari was the drink and Masafi the official water. Al Marai Chocolate milk, Mister Baker also supported the tournament.
Modern Graphics sponsored the team certificates.
The tournament was organised by Ishwar Deshmukh for Our Own High School, Sharjah.
