Abu Dhabi: Dusan Domovic Bulut, winner of the FIBA 3x3 World Tour and FIBA 3x3 All Stars last year, together with Angel Santana, the FIBA 3x3 European champion will take part in an exhibition match at the opening of the first edition of Abu Dhabi 3X3 Basketball Tour on Thursday-Friday.
Bulut will join his teammates from team Novi Sad, all of them being placed on the first four places in FIBA 3x3 World Ranking while Angel Santana, the world number 5, will be starring in the Abu Dhabi team together with local stars of 3x3 basketball — which is played on a half court.
The first tournament of the Abu Dhabi 3x3 Basketball Tour will take place at the Marina International Yachting Club parking, on 12-13 March. In all 83 teams from in and around UAE have confirmed for the event.
Registration is free of charge, open to all age categories (U13, U15, U18 and Over 18, both men and women), while every participant will receive a free jersey! Spectators’ access is also free of charge.
This year Abu Dhabi became the capital of 3x3 basketball, once the Abu Dhabi Sports Council signed an agreement with the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) to host the next two editions of the FIBA 3x3 World Tour Final, 2015 and 2016.
The road to Abu Dhabi will start in different corners of the world, with players taking part in local and regional tournaments trying to qualify for the FIBA 3x3 World Tour Masters and further on to the big final.
The Tour will comprise of four regular tournaments and one Final and will provide everybody a chance to have fun, play basketball and win prizes. The participants at the Open men’s category have a chance to be selected in the Abu Dhabi Team that will play this year in the FIBA 3x3 World Tour.
