Look away now if you are South Africa's cricket management, Dale Steyn's insurance company or anyone who doesn't like heights.

One of the best fast bowlers in the world has thrown himself into the so-called 'Devil's Pool' of the Victoria Falls, and uploaded the video to Instagram.

The pool is formed right on the edge of the 110-metre high falls, and is often described as 'the ultimate infinity pool'.

"Taking the jump! Devils pool at the mighty Victoria falls Zimbabwe/Zambia," Steyn wrote in the video's caption.

The death-defying jump can only be made during the drier months of May to October, when the pool, which has formed over thousands of years due to erosion, is accessible.

A quick internet search shows Steyn is one of many who has taken on the challenge.

Steyn is not part of the South Africa Twenty20 squad which will face India in the final match of the series on Thursday.

The Proteas have already claimed the series, having won the first two matches.

The five-match one-day series starts on Sunday, before the first of four Tests begins on November 5.
