Englishman’s big night ends with an unusual 'special' prize
Dubai: James Vince lit up the Pakistan Super League with a 42-ball century — the third-fastest in the tournament’s history — but it was what came after that had fans talking.
The Dubai-based Englishman, who starred in Karachi Kings’ thrilling four-wicket win over Multan Sultans, took to social media to show off his special prize: a hair dryer.
“Here she is, lovely upgrade on the hotel dryer,” Vince wrote on Instagram, alongside a photo of his prize — a playful end to a high-octane night at National Bank Stadium in Karachi.
Vince’s century helped Karachi chase down a mammoth 235-run target, opening their account in this year’s PSL. Only Usman Khan (36 balls) and Rilee Rossouw (41 balls) have reached the milestone quicker in the league. In addition to the official Player of the Match ceremony, teams often hand out medals or quirky gifts in the dressing room to boost morale — and Karachi Kings were no different.
Earlier, Multan captain Mohammad Rizwan, who had hit back at his critics on his English, had wowed the crowd with an unbeaten 105 off 69 balls, laced with nine boundaries and five sixes. Kamran Ghulam and Michael Bracewell added quick runs at the end to take the Sultans to 234.
Vince, a member of England’s 2019 World Cup-winning squad, relocated to Dubai earlier this year following attacks on his family home near Hampshire’s cricket ground. The hardships haven’t dulled his form — or his sense of humour.
The earlier report had incorrectly referred to it as a player of the match award.
